Selepas 16 tahun wang kertas RM20 diperkenalkan kembali oleh Bank Negara Malaysia. Ia merupakan sebahagian daripada siri wang kertas dan duit syiling terbaru yang bakal memasuki edarannya pada awal tahun depan.
Wang kertas RM20 telah lama diperkenalkan sejak siri kedua pada tahun 1982 dan telah dihentikan pengeluarannya pada 1995.
Rekaannya menonjolkan hiasan tradisional Malaysia dan gambar ibu pejabat Bank Negara di muka bertentangannya.
“Pengenalan semula wang kertas RM20 dalam siri matawang baru ini penting kerana ia berfungsi sebagai perantara yang menghubungkan jurang nilai antara RM0 dan RM50. Ini akan memudahkan pengguna membuat bayaran,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan kepada The Star.
